KATHY'S NEWS

HOME OF WORLD CHAMPION

Welcome to Whistleville Farms!

So much is going on here at our farm, that I wanted to start a page to keep you up to date on what is happening!  I will post here every month to tell you what we are doing, horses we have for sale, foals being born or other important news!

January  2012

The holidays are just a fond memory, now we charge bravely into a new year. The weather has been mild and that has been a blessing for all. The horses are enjoying being out more and I enjoy not freezing my tail off to get them there! We were fortunate enough to be able to lay in enough hay to feed our mob. We have 4 broodmares, 2 yearlings and a mini to feed. I know it has been a struggle for many all over the country to feed their stock. I was in Oklahoma for 2 weeks in September, and we saw tractor trailer after trailer of hay loaded going West and South. I hope their weather has been as good as ours. Life has been quiet this month after all the Christmas bustle. We are gearing up for that beautiful, exhausting phenomenon call "breeding season"

 February 2012

The horse of the month is Strangers With Candy-barn name-Bailey. She is a 2007 daughter of Awesome Andy. She is out of a daughter of Ollie Norfleet. Bailey is 15 hands N/N and in foal to Exceptional Look for an early April baby. She was shown as a weanling, then came to us to grow. She is UTD on all vet and farrier work. Bailey is an exceptional mare.,she is easy to handle and is very loving. She will follow you around and lick on you like a dog. One day, I swear, she will bring me a stick to play fetch with!  We trim her in the pasture with only a lead rope. Bailey is for sale at a very reasonable price. Don't miss out on a nice mare who will have an EXCEPTIONAL baby. Call or email for details.

Show her as a weanling yearling in halter then knock them out in the English classes when you start to ride her.

She is HYPP N/N and AA for the agouti gene. We are so pleased with this big, big girl!

Here she is at 4 days old with her dam who is 17hands. You can see the foals hocks are as high as moms. She is going to be BIG!!

Here she is at 3 weeks

Here she is at a month old. She is growing like a weed!     She has that  beautiful head and that big carry down at the hip that Mister had! She is going to be a massive, beautiful mare!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             March 23rd we welcomed an extraordinary splash overo filly ! Just look at this color- Shown here at 12 hours old. She has 2 gorgeous blue eyes. She is by Exceptional Look and out of Strangers with Candy "Bailey"

April 2012

Wow! April has been our biggest month EVER!! We had back to back foals exactly twenty four hours apart. Just when you thought is was safe to sleep at night....

On April 10th We got a red dun overo stud colt. He is by Exceptional Look and out of our APHA spb mare Shez Ultimately Dun. For a first baby, he was HUGE! We call him "Rocky" because he is such a knockout!

Shown above at hours old, he has 3 high socks, a white pastern, a  half bald face, two partial blue eyes and of course, that beautiful red dun stripe! He can be registered in 4 registries-APHA, IBHA, ABRA and Ptha.

Here are some photos of Rocky at 9 days old. He is sure living up to his name...

He is HYPP N/N and negative for LWOS. He is for sale!

On April 11th at  last, but certainly not least, is "Sparky"!

He is by Exceptional Look out of Socketts Miss Molly. He is a "mini-me" of his mom. Shown here at less than 24 hours old-

and here at one day old:

"Sparky" got off to a rough start with a touch of pneumonia in his right lung. We put in a feeding tube and for 24 straight fed him every hour and treated him with antibiotics. After that he popped right up almost as good as new. We took the feeding tube out after he nursed on his own for a while and now he is running and bucking like nothing ever happened. He has made a full and complete recovery!

"Sparky" is HYPP N/H and LWO positive. He is for sale!

April is almost over and it has been a full month for us! We have been blessed beyond belief in all things! We hope you have had an exciting April like we have, and may all your days be happy ones!
